This is a blended learning course. NOTE UAF Allied Health Students: If you need both a BLS CPR card AND a First Aid card you need to register for the the morning BLS course and the afternoon First Aid Only class. Do not register for this course..
This in person session covers the skills portion for the American Heart Association BLS or Heartsaver online courses. Please bring a printed copy of your online completion certificate to class or email a copy to [email protected] before the class starts. We will sign off on one of the following completed online courses:
Heartsaver Total First Aid CPR AED-
Description
Learn lifesaving skills with Heartsaver Total - First Aid CPR AED Online.
The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Total - First Aid CPR AED Online course provides high-quality training in first aid, CPR, and AED use. This course equips individuals and workplaces with the confidence to respond effectively to medical emergencies until emergency responders arrive.
The Heartsaver® Total - First Aid CPR AED course is designed for individuals with little or no medical background who need first aid, AED and CPR training to meet work or other regulatory requirements like OSHA. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community.

• Injury emergencies
• Environmental emergencies
• Preventing illness and injury
• Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies and how to use Nalaxone
• Recognizing the signs of mental health crisis in the workplace

Heartsaver Basic First Aid CPR AED-
Description
Heartsaver Basic focuses on the essential skills needed to respond to sudden cardiac emergencies. The course centers on CPR and AED use, giving participants the knowledge and hands-on experience to act quickly if someone collapses or becomes unresponsive.
Participants learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform effective chest compressions, deliver rescue breaths when appropriate, and use an AED safely and confidently. Basic First AId actions: Bleeding control, and Epi-Pen Administration Teamwork, scene safety, and prompt action are key components of the training.
This course is often well-suited for office employees, volunteers, community members, and individuals seeking general knowledge in lifesaving skills. It is also appropriate for workplaces with a lower risk of injury where CPR and AED training is the primary requirement. For many people, Heartsaver Basic provides reassurance that if a cardiac emergency occurs, they will not feel helpless or unsure of what to do.

Course Completion Card
Upon completion of all course requirements, participants receive a Course Completion Card which is valid for two years. Please note:
