Heartsaver® Online Skills Assessment

The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Online course is designed for individuals with little or no medical background who need first aid, AED and CPR training to meet work or other regulatory requirements like OSHA. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community.

Class Format: Using a variety of eLearning tools, including dramatizations, cognitive assessment activities, illustrations, knowledge checks, and interactive exercises, HeartCode® BLS Online (Part One) of the program addresses the essential of BLS knowledge.

The online class covers these topics:

• Adult CPR and AED use
• First aid basics
• Medical emergencies (including choking)
• Injury emergencies
• Environmental emergencies
• Preventing illness and injury
• Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies and how to use Nalaxone
• Recognizing the signs of mental health crisis in the workplace
• Optional modules in Child CPR AED and Infant CPR AED

The Heartsaver® Online Skills Assessment (Part Two) is the hands-on testing session for students who have successfully completed the Part One course through the AHA.

This in-person session lasts approximately 2-hour and focuses on practical skills evaluation as it relates to adult, child and infant CPR and AED use as well as first aid.

Outcomes: Within 72 hours of successful completion of the class, you will receive BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association, that is valid for two years.

Important Note: A valid email address is required to register for this course and access the online modules.

NOTE UAF Allied Health Students: If you need both a BLS CPR card AND a First Aid card you need to register for the the morning BLS course and the  afternoon First Aid Only class.  Do not register for this course.
