Blended Learning Instructor Course
The American Heart Association (AHA) requires that instructors be at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified in a healthcare occupation where the skills are within the provider’s scope of practice.
This one-day course certifies individuals to teach AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) courses, preparing them to lead both instructor-led and blended learning sessions for healthcare professionals. There is also an option for you to be monitored at an ACLS course either the following day, or another scheduled day.
ACLS Instructors are authorized to teach ACLS Provider courses and are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies, as this course focuses on how to teach and assess ACLS, not how to perform it.
You must be monitored within six months of the course in order to obtain your instructor certification.
Precourse Requirements
- You must have a current AHA ACLS Provider card.
- Separately purchase and complete the ACLS Instructor Essentials online course available on AHA's website at https://shopcpr.heart.org/courses/instructor-essentials.
